UrbanLegend Games would like to announce that Dodgeball:Source Alpha 7 GDC Edition has been released. Alpha 7 is our biggest and most polished release yet. We are getting close to "feature complete" with this build and have included many of the items that have been requested by the community! We have made enhancements to gameplay, visuals, maps, performance, and more.
Dodgeball:Source Alpha 7 can be found in our downloads section.
We have also submitted the file to many other locations and will have new mirrors up shortly. Servers will be popping up throughout the night and into tomorrow.
Here is a list of items that have been updated in this release.
Gameplay: The bombballs are now "hot potato" style ticking timebombs. This means that after a certain amount of time they will explode. Throw them to the other side to avoid getting blown up.
Rapid fire now allows the player to throw unlimited balls (for the alloted time) without having to pick up dodgeballs.
"Bomb Time" has been added to the buy menu for 100 EXP and will create a slew of Bombballs on the opposite teams court. This forces them to throw them away as soon as possible but usually ends up killing a large number of their teammates.
The new EXPBall now spawns randomly throughout matches. This special ball gives its recipient a boost in EXP points.
Maps: Some of our most original and polished maps have been released with Alpha 7. The new db_utopia is released, db_combine, db_ritual, db_icerink also are now official maps included with Alpha 7.
Menu/Intro Video: A new intro video and main menu screen have been added.
Stability/ Performance: All collision models have been made lower poly to allow for more dodgeballs, bombballs, fireballs, and slimeballs to be on-screen at once without performance hitches. This has created a significant improvement in performance. All bugs that have been reported have been fixed.

The long awaited release of Dodgeball:Source Alpha 7 is finally approaching! The official release date for Alpha 7 is March, 21st. This release will include many new enhancements to the gameplay. Some of these include:
Hot potato style Bomballs: (they blow up after a random amount of time like a ticking time bomb). Ticking sounds have also been added.
New Rapid Fire: The new rapid fire allows the player to throw an unlimited number of balls without having to pick any up for the time remaining in the Rapid Fire.
New maps!: 3 of our most interesting and polished maps will be released with Alpha 7! Screenshots of these are already posted here in our image gallery
Overall Enhancements: Overall Enhancements to the game including fixing lag issues, exploits, and ball spitters are being released.

PRODUCTION/ QA
Welcome to our new Producer/ QA lead Jonathan Knippschild. Formerly of hl2files.com, Jonathan is now in charge of organizing QA sessions, Tracking bugs, Compiling a beta tester team and, keeping us all on task and meeting deadlines.
Jonathan will be making sure that Alpha 7 and future releases are completed in a more organized and efficient manor. This will help all of us to be more successful in our efforts and save us alot of time. Be sure to introduce yourself and make sure to refer any testing/production matters to him. Jonathan is now moderator of the beta tester forum and has begun getting some bug tracking software installed for all of us to use. Welcome aboard!
Welcome to our newest Beta Tester Eric Borck. Eric is currently going to school to become a video game designer and is a huge Dodgeball fan and competitor. He has what it takes to give competent and reliable feedback. This is what we need in our QA team. Welcome aboard Eric!
Level Design
Welcome to Dr. Devin Carlson. He has been working in an un-official role for long enough! Winner of our official map contest, many of Devin's maps have already been included in Dodgeball:Source and he has even done some work on the other up and coming projects that the studio is involved with. Everyone give it up for Devin and all his hardwork. Dr. Devin is now an official team member and deserves a warm welcome.
Welcome to Enrique (BAX) Colinet. He has also been working very hard as an unofficial member for a long time. He has completed some of the best community maps for Dodgeball:Source and also our awesome menu screen! BAX has already created some great maps for Alpha 7 and they will be some of the feature maps included with the build. BAX's maps and other hard work deserve much credit. He has worked extremely hard and is extremely talented.
Welcome to Bachar Al-Alami. Bachar has been working with the Dodgeball:Source team for a while as a player, tester and also texture artist. He created many of the skins that have become popular with Dodgeball:Source and we welcome him aboard. We hope to see many more great things from Bachar that show off his ability to add cool details to the game to set us apart from the crowd. Bachar is also attending the GDC conference with us and will be present during the awards ceremony.
